The CBAI’s AGM on Saturday 27 June voted unanimously in favour of the proposed amalgamation with the Northern Ireland Bridge Union (NIBU). The NIBU’s AGM on the same day also voted in favour, but subject to seeing some outstanding legal documentation.
So the matter is not concluded for the moment, although we hope it will be concluded soon, and in time for the proposed amalgamation date of 1 September 2026.
We will keep members posted on developments. Many thanks to all who attended the AGM. As agreed at that meeting, we have included below both Chief Executive Dermot O’Brien’s and Vice President Martin Brady’s presentations to the AGM. The former was a review of the 2025/26 season and some plans for 2026/27. The latter focused explicitly on the resolution on the amalgamation, and what an amalgamated body will look like.
