Congratulations to our own Tom Hanlon on another international success. Team Zaleski (Romain Zaleski, Philippe Cronier, Frédéric Volcker, Cédric Lorenzini, Tom Hanlon, and Thomas Bessis) recently retained the French Premier League title that they won in 2020.

After a dominant performance in the three-weekend qualifying event, Zaleski won their 64-board semi-final, and then came from behind to beat the highly-rated Zimmermann Team, containing several world champions, by 38 IMPs in the 96-board final. A gruelling test of skill, fitness, and concentration, and all wearing masks, as the event was held live at the French Federation headquarters. You’ll see some pictures, including some specially-designed perspex table screens, on the French Federation website.

Well done Tom, and here’s to the hat-trick next year.
