We have published the provisional calendar for 2021/22 on the website. Given the current public health restrictions, and the uncertainty of future developments in this regard, members will appreciate that is it is very difficult for us to be definitive at this point in planning the calendar for the season. Our intention is to hold our events in-person as soon as it is permitted, and safe, to do so. Initially, our expectation is that this may involve multi-venue events, to control the numbers in any single space, and to minimise travel. So for example, a competition might have a group of players in Templeogue, another in Malahide, another in Drogheda, another in Galway, and so on. We will update the calendar regularly as the position becomes clearer, so please make the effort to check periodically. The current listing includes the events the CBAI is planning and those others (congresses etc) of which we have been notified. If you are planning to hold a congress or similar open competition in 2021/22 and it is not listed, please let us know and we will be happy to add it to the calendar.

If it is not possible to hold a particular event on an in-person basis, we continue to have the option to run it online. If it transpires that an event ends up being held virtually, then, unless specifically notified to the contrary, it will be run on the same basis as last season – essentially for entertainment purposes, with Masterpoints being awarded, but with no national titles (where relevant) or monetary prizes.
