After a full weekend’s bridge, there was an extremely close finish in the Pre-Qualifier Trials held in the Templeogue Bridge Centre, under the direction of Brian Lawlor.
Evgenia Gladysheva & Konstantin Rabkin, who had been towards the top of the field throughout proceedings, eventually emerged victorious by just 0.02 VPs from Fiona O’Gorman & Rachel Connellan in second place, with Marie Callanan & Frank Davey a further 0.39 VPs behind in third place. Fourth place went to Philip Robinson & Anthony Moloney, with Melissa Brady & Anna Shalvey fifth, and Marie James & Adrienne Purdy sixth.
Unfortunately, Gladysheva/Rabkin are not available for the Camrose Trials, due to an unanticipated family commitment. The qualifiers are thus O’Gorman/Connellan and Brady/Shalvey for the Lady Milne Trials and Callanan/Davey and Robinson/Moloney for the Camrose Trials. The qualifiers also have the option of adding a third, automatically eligible (so greater than 100 National Points each) pair, to make a team of six.
