The National Pairs Championships were held over the weekend in the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon, with a full turnout for the Open and Intermediate A events and a near-full entry for the Intermediate Bs. The prizewinners were:
- Davidson Trophy (Open Pairs): 1st Cian Holland & Derek O’Gorman (South Munster); 2nd Seamus Costello & Deirdre Tuckey (North Eastern); 3rd John Noonan & Carol-Ann Cummins (Eastern) Results
- Laird Trophy (Intermediate A Pairs): 1st David Breslin & Anne Farragher (Western); 2nd Maeve Pelly & Dorothy Nolan (Eastern); 3rd Maeve O’Reilly & Russell Down (Dublin South) Results
- Civil Service Cup (Intermediate B Pairs): 1st John O’Leary & Colm O’Neill (Dublin South); 2nd Mary Tierney & Michelle Heery (South Midland); 3rd Cliona Murphy & Stephanie Kealy (South Munster) Results
