Unfortunately, our plan to hold both the Duais an Uachtarain and the Spiro Cup as live multi-venue events at their normal time in the calendar has been thwarted by the fact that a lot of the venues we were hoping to use either will not be open at all on the dates we wanted, or will be open for such small numbers that it would not be financially viable to use them.
We have therefore decided to restructure the calendar as follows:
- The Duais an Uachtarain will be held as a two-session event in-person in Cork (at the Devere Hall in UCC) on Saturday 30 October. This will be after the next relaxation in COVID restrictions, so capacity will not be limited.
- The entire Mixed Championship weekend (Spiro Cup, Pairs, and Coen Trophy, Teams) will be held on 26/27 February 2022, hopefully live in a single venue as normal. The change in date will apply for this season only, and they will revert to their normal October slot for 2022/23.
We realise that these changes may be inconvenient for some members, and apologise if you have been making plans around the originally advertised dates. On the other hand, we have stressed that it is extremely difficult for us to plan definitively in the current conditions, and that the calendar should therefore be regarded as fluid for the moment.
