Many thanks to all the clubs who supported the Celtic Nations Simultaneous Pairs from May 11-15. As in previous seasons, all proceeds from this event will be donated to junior bridge – a very good cause. Our playing numbers were up by around 20% on the previous year, which means we have been in a position to be a bit more generous on the prizes, and still been able to pass on more than €3,500 to the Junior Committee. Several clubs also made donations even though they could not participate for various reasons; thanks to them for their generosity.
You’ll find the prizewinners for each of the days here. The prizes will be paid shortly, as a first option to the club bank account where we have the details, and by other more old-fashioned means where we don’t. We will let the relevant club secretary know that the transfer is coming in those cases. Well done to all the winners and thanks again to all who played in these events; our feedback is that players really enjoy them. Congratulations in particular to Marion Mallinson & Ronnie McCarthy (Ballinhassig) and Fr Gabriel Murphy (Phoenix Sligo) & Martin Naughton (Claremorris), who were the overall winners on Thursday and Friday respectively.

We expect to have the same three weeks of Simultaneous Pairs events next season. If your club does not currently participate but you’d like to, signing up is easy.
