This week sees the annual CBAI Simultaneous Pairs week, with separate games every day of the week. Unfortunately our traditional week has been disturbed by the government’s allocation of a new bank holiday, St Brigid’s Day, on the Monday, which has meant that some clubs are unable to participate in the Sims. Apologies to those clubs, and we will review the situation for next season, although it is hard to find free weeks in the busy bridge calendar.

Those clubs who have told us that they are participating should have received the relevant materials by email at this stage, either directly or via your external Tournament Director if you use one. If this is not the case, or if you need anything else from us in advance of the game, just let us know. The daily commentaries are available for clubs to distribute digitally as they wish, and will be uploaded here every evening at the end of the day’s tournaments. Our thanks as ever to our team of commentators – Fearghal O’Boyle (Monday), Lucy & John Phelan (Tuesday), Enda Glynn (Wednesday), Brian Senior (Thursday), and Carol-Ann Cummins & John Noonan (Friday) – for their expert analysis.

If you play early in the day, please remember not to upload your results, either locally or centrally, until after the evening games have finished – approximately 10:15 p.m. Uploading your results to ECATs is straightforward. If you use either the ScoreBridge or PairsScorer programmes, you’ll find instructions here; you can also send an XML file directly to ECATs (instructions), or, if using BBO, upload your results directly from there (instructions). If you are playing on BBO, please (a) make every effort to minimise robot participation – pairs involving a robot are NOT eligible for any prizes or masterpoints, and (b) include the real names of your players rather than their BBO names wherever possible. And please make sure to remind your participants to check the ECATs site for their overall ranking.
