Members are reminded that the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland will take place in the Castle Arms Hotel Durrow on Saturday 27 June, starting at 2 p.m. All members are entitled to attend, and there will be the traditional game of bridge afterwards for anyone who wants to play. The bridge will be in aid of two local charities chosen by the incoming President, Dawn Walk Kildare (which provides crisis counselling to people with suicidal ideas), and Cuisle Cancer Support Centre Portlaoise (which provides support to cancer patients).
The following officer and other nominations have been approved by Governing Council for the AGM:

- Honorary Treasurer: Brendan Martin; Proposed: Tony Smyth, Seconded: Seamus Costello
- Honorary Auditor: Brian Dolan; Proposed: Paul Porteous, Seconded: Mary Timoney
No other nominations have been received for any of these positions.
One resolution has been proposed for the AGM, as follows: From the Governing Council (Proposed Martin Brady, Seconded George Ryan):
“The Governing Council proposes that the CBAI amalgamates with the Northern Ireland Bridge Union with effect from 1 September 2026, or such other date as may be agreed between the two parties, as set out in the information contained in an email to members dated 15 May 2026 and posted on the CBAI website on that date, and that the Governing Council be authorized to do all things necessary to achieve the proposed amalgamation, including the establishment of a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Irish Companies Acts.”
