Best of luck to the Irish team in the second weekend of the Camrose (home international) Trophy being hosted by the Northern Ireland Bridge Union over the weekend of 6-8 March in Belfast. We are represented by Tom Hanlon, Hugh McGann, Grainne Barton, John Carroll, Nick FitzGibbon, and Adam Mesbur, under the direction of NPC David Walsh. The team lies in second place after the first weekend, but has some catching up to do on the leaders, England. If you want to follow their progress over the weekend, the results will be available here, and the event will be featured on the BBO Vugraph facility, starting at 19:00 on Friday.

The team (with Mark Moran playing in place of Grainne Barton, who has reverted to the NPC role) warmed up nicely with a very good run in the Zimmermann Cup (part of the 3rd European Winter Games), currently being held in Monte Carlo, in which they qualified for the knockout phase. They then beat the German Seniors team, who came third in qualifying, in the last sixteen, but yesterday (Wednesday) came up just short after a valiant effort against the highly-rated Swiss Team, containing several world champions, in the quarter-final. Let’s hope the team can bring that kind of form to Belfast for the Camrose.
