Congratulations to Team Moran (Mark Moran, John Carroll, Tom Hanlon, Tommy Garvey, Nick FitzGibbon, and Adam Mesbur) on what turned out to be a comfortable win in the Camrose trials in Templeogue.

The winners established an unassailable lead after nine of ten scheduled rounds, with the result that the participants collectively elected not to play the final round, finishing ahead of Team Brady (Martin Brady, David Dunne, Paul Delaney, and Tomás Roche), with Team Pigot (Peter Pigot, Ciaran Coyne, Gay Keaveney, and Enda Glynn), who led as late as the sixth round, faltering on the final day to finish third.

Thanks to the International Committee for devising conditions which allowed very close to normal bridge to be played whilst ensuring that  health protocols were followed, and to all the players and TD Fearghal O’Boyle for their understanding and co-operation … particularly during the Friday evening session when a glitch in the Templeogue air-conditioning system resulted in distinctly chilly conditions in the playing room. And a big thank you to Templeogue stalwart Martin Keane for making sure that the problem was fixed by start of play on Saturday morning.

Full results here. And best wishes to the Moran team for both the Camrose in the new year and for the final of the OCBL October Cup, which will be played imminently.
