Well done to the winners of the Camrose trials held on the new RealBridge platform over the weekend of 13-15 November, team O’Brien (BJ O’Brien, Ranald Milne, Micheal & Padraig O Briain, Terry Walsh, and Derek O’Gorman), which will represent Ireland at the two Camrose weekends on 8-10 January and 5-7 March, at a virtual venue to be decided.
The O’Brien team finished just ahead of the pre-event favourites, the Moran team (Mark Moran, John Carroll, Tom Hanlon, Hugh McGann, Adam Mesbur, Nick FitzGibbon, and NPC Grainne Barton). A final round sitout must have meant a slightly anxious wait for the O’Brien group, as a 20-0 win in their final match would have been just enough for Moran to pip them for top spot. In the event, Moran did win their final match, but only by 15.5, to leave O’Brien victorious by 3.74 VPs after a full weekend’s work. With O’Brien having got the better of Moran in both of their head-to-head matches, it would seem that justice was done. Full results here.
Thanks to Fearghal O’Boyle, Diarmuid Reddan, and Mairead Basquille for directing, and we look forward to hearing the participant feedback on RealBridge, which is rapidly emerging as a genuine alternative to BBO.
