You may have seen in another post that Conor Boland is one of the team representing Ireland in the Camrose Trophy this weekend. You’ve very welcome to come along and watch him and his team in person in the CityNorth Hotel, Gormanstown, or to follow their fortunes on RealBridge: https://www.cbai.ie/camrose-trophy-2026-weekend-1-citynorth-hotel-gormanstown/
Notwithstanding his Camrose commitments, Conor has also thrown down a challenge to “beat the star” on FunBridge this weekend – presumably when he’s sitting out in the Camrose! For a very small fee, you play a 12-board set against Conor, and anyone who beats him will win 30♦ (the equivalent currency on FunBridge to BBO$). Registration is open now, and the competition opens up at 11 pm on Friday 9 January. You have three days to play the 12 boards … but try not to distract Conor while he is playing in the Camrose please! You’ll find the link to enter the competition here – you’ll need to be a member of FunBridge to play. Best of luck; Conor is the best young player in the country, and has been a member of the Irish Open team for the past few years, so anyone who manages to beat him deserves their prize.
While on the subject of FunBridge, a reminder also of our upcoming Inaugural Irish Individual Knockout Championship on that platform. You’ll find full details, including how to enter, here. Entries close on 17 January, and the tournament starts the following day, 18 January. We hope to see you there.
