We are saddened to report the death of Clare Pippet, after a long illness.
Clare was an excellent bridge player and an integral part of the administration of the CBAI for many years. The daughter of Jim Power of Athlone, Clare won four national titles, and one Lady Milne cap, and also served as NPC of the Irish Women’s team at a European Championship.
Clare served as CBAI President in 1991, as Honorary Treasurer between 1992 and 2003, and for many years as a Trustee of the Association. She was also the IBU President in 1993. Clare is survived by her husband Vincent, children Michele, Damian, and Vinnie and extended family including niece Samantha Power, who served as US Ambassador to United Nations from 2013-17.
Clare will be fondly remembered, and missed, by all her wide circle of friends in the bridge community. May she rest in peace. Funeral details to follow.
