Thanks to all the clubs that participated in the CBAI Simultaneous Pairs during the first week in March.
This post contains a list of all the prizewinners, and the masterpoints awarded for each day. As last year, we have an increased number of prizewinners from the post-covid years due to the addition of a prize for first, second, and third place overall, and for the best Intermediate As, Intermediate Bs, and Novices, to the regular daily prizes, as part of the CBAI’s commitment to use our reserves for the benefit of our members. This prize structure will apply in the future.
All thirteen regions had prizewinners this year, which is pleasing. Where we have bank details for the prizewinners’ club, the prize payment will be made shortly by bank transfer and will be available via the club. Where we do not currently have bank details for the club, we have sought them and will give clubs a couple of weeks to respond. If clubs have not replied in that time, we will send the payment out by cheque directly to the winners.
Congratulations especially to the overall prizewinners, who were:
- First Place: Yvonne Lloyd & Christina Burke, RTC Bridge Club, Monday; Score 77.90%
- Second Place: Dolly Keohane & Bernie O’Halloran, Ballinhassig Bridge Club, Monday; Score 74.53%
- Third Place: Geraldine Carroll & Colm Walsh, Fisherman’s Bridge Club, Thursday; Score 74.23%
- Best Intermediate A: Brid O’Connell & Olive Hanly, St Crispin’s Bridge Club, Thursday; Score 73.66%
- Best Intermediate B: Nigel & Helen Locke, Dargle Bridge Club, Wednesday; Score 71.66%
- Best Novice: Penelope O’Connell & Connie O’Hanlon, Vernon Bridge Club, Monday; Score 71.50%
Well done to all the prizewinners, and thanks to all the clubs who took part. The next Simultaneous Pairs competition will be the Celtic Nations version from 11-15 May. As has been the case since this third week of Simultaneous Pairs was added a few years ago, all the proceeds will be passed directly on to our Junior Bridge Committee, so the funds raised are for the best of causes. If your club does not play in this event, please encourage them to sign up by calling us on (01) 4929666; if it does participate, we look forward to seeing you again then. (We know this week may clash with some President’s Prize nights, but cannot see any reason why that should prevent a club from participating; surely an expert commentary on the hands would be an added bonus for a big occasion.)
