A further update on the progress of the Inaugural Irish Individual Knockout Championship on Funbridge, which has now reached the quarter-final stage.
Only one seed remains standing, after John Flavin had the remarkable achievement of knocking out both Tom Hanlon and Paul Delaney in successive rounds, earning himself two €100 bounties in the process. The remaining seed, Peter Goodman, survived a couple of close shaves, winning his match with Matthew O’Farrell on the first-to-finish countback after a 3-3 tie, and beating Conor Boland by the narrowest of margins, 7-6.
The quarter-final line up is:
- US expert Jade Barrett v Irish online specialist Russell Down
- Current junior international Luca Crone v former junior international Richard Boyd
- Former-Irish resident Willem Mevius v Northern Ireland international Wayne Somerville
- Grand Master and remaining seed Peter Goodman v giant-killer John Flavin
The quarter-finals will conclude tomorrow night, and we’ll post another update then.
