Welcome to the Galway
The Corn Cairdis (Cup of Friendship)
We are delighted to welcome you to Ireland’s medieval “City of the Tribes”. If this is your first visit, take a little time to explore the pedestrianised heart of the city and the city walls with their famous Spanish Arch.
The Corn Cairdis is a friendly competition between Ireland and England, now in its 15th year and it provides a unique opportunity for bridge players from both countries to meet at and away from the bridge table.
I would like to thank the many bridge players in Galway who have assisted in organizing this event, the National University of Ireland Galway for providing the splendid venue and the Galway Bridge Centre for their generous sponsorship. A special thank you to the host families for providing accommodation for our guests.
I wish everyone an enjoyable weekend and to our guests say that I hope your brief visit to our city will encourage you to return for a longer stay in the West of Ireland.
